As part of its Social Responsibility Program, EvolutecC is leading an educational project in partnership with the Alexander von Humboldt District Educational Institution in Barranquilla, Colombia, and Naranjo Consulting, a firm specializing in training and coaching.
The initiative, called Hackathon Humboldt, aims to empower students to design and develop the school’s new website—an experience that combines education, technology, and digital transformation.
A Project with Purpose and Active Participation
The hackathon was conceived with a clear goal: to renew the school’s institutional website through a participatory approach. Students from grades 9, 10, and 11 were invited to actively take part—not as spectators, but as key players in the design, development, and execution of the project.
Far from being a traditional extracurricular activity, Hackathon Humboldt has become an experiential learning space where students are developing real-world skills in web design, WordPress implementation, teamwork, and critical thinking—facing challenges similar to those found in professional environments.
Training and Mentorship: Cultivating Digital Skills
EvolutecC leads the project’s technical training through in-person sessions with participating teams. During these sessions, students have learned about user experience, information architecture, design tools, and web development techniques.
In addition, Naranjo Consulting contributes its expertise in training and certification processes, ensuring that participants not only gain practical knowledge but also receive formal recognition for the skills they develop.
Ongoing Phases
With an estimated duration of six months, the project has already completed its initial phases—planning, prototype design, and basic training. The selected teams are now working on functional versions of the site, developed within subdomains provided by the school.
During this stage, students receive weekly technical mentorship from EvolutecC’s team while preparing for the final presentation before a mixed jury. This jury will select the version that will become the school’s official website.

The true value of this hackathon lies not only in the final product but also in the formative process behind it. Students are not just building a key digital asset for their school—they are strengthening their autonomy, creativity, and teamwork skills.
The entire experience is being documented through photos, interviews, videos, and testimonials, with the support of EvolutecC’s marketing team. This record will help share the project with other educational institutions and inspire new ways to integrate technology into teaching and learning.
